MATERNAL-CHILD HEALTH SERVICES
MCH--
Maternal Child Health (MCH) nurses provide services and make home visits prenatally and postpartum to women to provide teaching around pregnancy, labor and delivery, breast feeding and newborn care. Home Health collaborates with the Vermont Department of Health and the Parent Child Center to offer supportive or prevention services to families with newborns and young children who are at risk for medical and psychosocial problems. Some private insurance policies have postpartum benefits which include skilled nursing visits and/or homemakers.

Pediatrics-- Sick children, acutely or chronically ill, are followed by MCH nurses under physician orders for intermittent skilled care and specific procedures. The pediatric physical therapist sees infants and children at the request of physicians to do growth and development assessments, to establish exercise routines, to monitor progress towards therapeutic goals, and to assist families in obtaining adaptive equipment.

Medicaid High Tech--  ACHH&H administers the Medicaid-based High Tech Program which provides shift care at home for children (and sometimes adults) who are dependent on specialized equipment like enteral pumps, monitors, ventilators, respiratory equipment or suction machines. Staffing for High-Tech patients relies on a per diem registry of nurses who are proficient with those kinds of skills.
